Virgine (Baron) Rosenbaum

Virgine Rosenbaum, 82, of Brenham, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016.

Visitation will be held at Brenham Memorial Chapel Tuesday, December 13, 2016, from 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Pat Lehrer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Virgine was born to Ben and Frances (Zetik) Baron of Welcome, Texas, on August 23, 1934. Virgine grew up in the area and attended school in Latium. On November 22, 1953, she was united in marriage to Irvin Rosenbaum at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Virgine helped her husband operate Irvin A. Rosenbaum Garage for many years and later worked at Brenham State School, from where she retired.

Virgine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Virgine and her family spent many summers camping and fishing, with Virgine taking pictures and cooking meals to share with them and friends. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who called her “Gigi”. Virgine was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville.

Surviving family includes: daughter, Carol Ann Sommerfeld and husband Roger of Carmine; sons, Gary Rosenbaum and wife Diana of Brenham, and Lary Rosenbaum and wife Dixie of Round Top; grandchildren, Justin and Elizabeth Sommerfeld of Edna, Melissa and Jason Smith of Carmine, Sean and Jill Rosenbaum of Brenham; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Austin Sommerfeld, and Makayla and Jake Smith; sister, Gladys Hodde and husband Leroy, of Brenham; brother, Leroy Baron and wife Jean, of Brenham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Janet Rosenbaum of Brenham, sister-in-law Ella Mae Love, of Brenham; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Virgine is preceded in death by: parents; husband; granddaughter, Brittany Ridley; sisters, Lorine Wehring and Betty Winkelmann; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and other family members.

Pallbearers will be Sean Rosenbaum, Justin Sommerfeld, Jason Smith, Glenn Rosenbaum, Darrell Hermann, Jerry Hermann, Bradley Hodde and Randy Hodde. Honorary pallbearers are all other nephews.
