Obituary

Virginia “Pat” Lois (Ueckert) Brau Maass age 80 passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in Kruse Village. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 22 at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 23 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Pat was born January 30, 1933 in Nelsonville, TX to Alfred and Lenora (Rogge) Ueckert. On April 4, 1933 she was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church by Rev. Wm. Utesch and confirmed April 14, 1946 in St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem by Rev. G. C. Senff. She was a graduate of Bellville High School (1950) and Blinn College. Pat was a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Pat was employed at Bellville Clinic and Hospital from 1950-1959, and then at Brenham Clinic where she worked with Dr. Henry Boehm from 1959 until 1998 when she retired. On September 6, 1953 she was married to Henry Brau until his death on May 31, 1985. On August 20, 1993 she married Alfred Maass and he passed away on October 19, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Henry Louis Brau, second husband Alfred Gustav Maass She is survived by sons Mike Brau and wife Debbie of Brenham, Billy Brau and wife Sondra of Industry; grandchildren Abby Brau, Matt and Dillon McLendon of Brenham, Gaithon Brau and Ryland Brau of Industry; great-grandchildren Mack Schwarze and Emma McLendon; brother Boyd Ueckert of Bleiblerville, TX; sister Dale Kollatschny and husband Dean of Katy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Edwin Maass of Houston, Irene Minor of Houston, Edwina and John Sanders of Orange, TX and Flo and Dennis Masar of Scotch Plains, NJ, Margie Truitt of Dallas; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors

Pat was a member of St. John’s UCC of Burton, where she sang in the choir. She loved dancing, singing and playing dominoes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Kollatschany, Jason Kollatschny, Dillon McLendon, Matt McLendon, Gaithon Brau, Kyle Brau and David Truitt.
