Obituary
Wayne Eugene Sunderhuse, 82, of Brenham, Texas, passed away on February 10, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center. He was born on August 7, 1943, in Brenham, Texas to Wallace and Vada Sunderhuse.
Wayne spent nearly 30 years working for Blue Bell Creamery as a truck driver and site maintenance worker, a job he took pride in and one that suited his strong work ethic and friendly nature. He was a familiar face to many and truly never met a stranger.
On April 15, 1960, Wayne married the love of his life, Jeanette Cameron, in Richmond, Texas. Together they built a family filled with laughter, love, and countless stories. Wayne adored his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, who knew him affectionately as “Our Papoo.” Being Papoo was one of his greatest joys.
Wayne loved life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed playing cards, especially 31 and Tonk, as well as spending time deer hunting at the deer camp in Comfort, Texas, and camping with his family at Camp River View. Wayne loved his “country oldies” and doing the Jitterbug with “his Memee”. A natural jokester and prankster, Wayne was always teasing, giving out nicknames, and making everyone around him laugh. Even later in life, he could often be found chasing the grandkids around with his walker, much to everyone’s delight.
He had a deep love for his Dodge pickup, especially after his grandson, Garrett, fixed it up for him. His loyal dogs, Molly, who followed him everywhere, and Peppi, were constant companions. Wayne also had a well-known sweet tooth, with a special fondness for Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream and cookies.
In quieter moments, Wayne enjoyed watching classic television shows like “The Rifleman” and “Gunsmoke.” No matter how busy life was, he never missed a chance to attend his children’s ballgames, proudly cheering them on regardless of the sport.
Wayne Eugene Sunderhuse will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and the joy he brought into every room. His laughter, stories, and love for family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, son-in-law Ronnie Boehnemann and daughter-in-law Stacie Sunderhuse.
Wayne is survived by his wife Jeanette Cameron Sunderhuse; daughters Waynette Reich (Ty), Tracie Boehnemann, and son Kurt Sunderhuse; grandchildren Cory Painter (Neely), Aimee Lewis (Chad), Micah Harmel, Chadd Neumann (Kaci), LyNae Neumann, Garrett Sunderhuse, Tana Harris (Brad), Kolten Sunderhuse; and greatgrandchildren Aubrey Priem, Remy Painter, Macee and Madelyn Lewis, Pecas Harmel, Nathan Simmons, Chase and Kailyn Neumann, Brodie Jones, Braygen Calvin, Zoey and Ava Sunderhuse, Abree, Adlee, Ava, and Holton Harris, Kylie and Paisley Reich, Hudson Jenschke, Aron Lawson, CJ and Bailey Reich, and many other family members and friends.
