Obituary

Wilbert W. Eickhoff, 85 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 in Trinity Care Center.

He was born March 3, 1924 to Robert and Lillie (Rathke) Eickhoff in the Welcome Community of Austin County. He was baptized May 18, 1924 and confirmed March 17, 1940 both in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome. Mr. Eickhoff served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 26, 1947 he married Bernice Borchardt at Zion Lutheran Church. For 37 years he was route salesman for Pearl Beer. Mr. Eickhoff was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, James F. Dillon Post #7104 of the V.F.W. and Buddy Wright Post #48 of the American Legion. Wilbert loved to dance, fish and take trips to Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law Herman and Minnie Borchardt, sisters and brothers-in-law Lydia and Melvin Draehn and Willie Mae and Harold Wehmeyer, brother-in-law Franklin Borchardt, sister-in-law Adeline Studhalter and special nephew Billy R. Dannhaus.

His loving family includes: wife of over 61 years, Bernice Eickhoff; daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Larry Kieke, Janie and Derrell Krebs; son and daughter-in-law Jimmy and Betty Eickhoff all of Brenham; grandchildren Chris Herzog of Houston, Wendy and Brian Horak of Brenham, Joey and Stacy Eickhoff of Humble, Jenny and Mike Marchetti of Humble, Ashley and Josh Sulik of Cypress, Chance Wilkerson and special friend Johanna Clay of Brenham, Neil Krebs and Kelsey Krebs of College Station; great-granddaughters Brianna Renee Horak of Brenham and Madison Elizabeth Eickhoff of Humble; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Herman and Elverna Borchardt, Florence Borchardt, Walter and Elouise Rodenbeck, Alvin “Pete” Studhalter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the Eickhoff family will be Tuesday, March 10th from 5-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 11th at 11a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Rev. David Hall and Sister Anne Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Grimm, Ray Rodenbeck, Don Lee Studhalter, Rob Winkelmann, Richard O’Malley, James Gaskamp, Raymond Wellmann and Jack “Tebo” Ray, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Glenver and Frances Eilers, Burney and Earline Boecker, Leon and Floradell Boecker, Edwin and Edna Weiss, John Bosse, Joyce Boeker, Gene Lehmann and J. C. Adler

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or Hospice.
