Obituary

Bubba was born March 13, 1938 in the Wellmann family home on Meyersville Road to Willie and Lonie Addicks. He was baptized, confirmed, and remained a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville. He attended Meyersville School.

Bubba met Patricia “Patty” Anne Murphy at Murphy’s Grocery and they married May 2, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Bubba worked at Jimmy Hahn Concrete Company, and with Leslie Tesch delivering milk. In 1961, he worked as a Deputy at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Johnie Schulte. In 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, he was called to active duty as a member of the Texas National Guard, being stationed in Louisiana. Upon return, he began work at Brenham Wholesale Grocery, from where he eventually retired in 2000.

Shortly before his retirement, Bubba and Patty moved from town closer to his Meyersville home to enjoy country living and raising cattle. Known as “PoPo” to his grandkids and great-grandkids, he always kept them busy, whether on a horse, a four-wheeler, or with fishing, duck hunting, or skeet shooting.

Bubba was a quiet, consistent, and strong example of responsibility to those whose love he shared. He plowed paths and planted seeds for his children and grandkids, and helped them flourish. He was a selfless and loving family man, as witnessed by his 62-year marriage to Patty.

Bubba is survived by: wife, Patty Addicks; sons, Ed Addicks and wife Cheri, Billy Addicks and wife Jennifer; grandkids, Phillip Addicks and wife Lu Qian, John Addicks and wife Mollie, Anna Incarnadine and husband Andrew, Tim Addicks, Caitlyn Addicks, Drew Addicks, and Elizabeth Addicks; and great-grandkids, Aimi Lu Addicks, Charlotte Addicks, Michael Thomas Addicks, Ethan Incarnadine, Isaac Incarnadine, and Amara Incarnadine. Also surviving are: siblings, Delphine Addicks and wife Sandra, and Judy Alexander; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Darlene and Rob Daniels; and numerous nieces and nephews.
