Obituary

Wiley Edward “Doc” Nobles, M.D., 66, passed away on September 26, 2018.

A visitation gathering for friends and family will be held at Brenham Memorial Chapel, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, on Friday, September 28, 2018. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Tow Cemetery, 1:00 pm, Sunday, September 30, 2018.

Doc was born on September 27, 1951, in Burnet, Texas, to Roy Lee and La Verne (Garrett) Nobles. He grew up in Lone Grove, Texas, with his five siblings. He graduated from Llano High School. Doc married Laurie Goodrich. He was a loving husband and loving father to their two children, Todd and Brandy.

Doc served his country in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger. He served honorably in the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. While enlisted in the military, Doc had the chance to study medicine as he had always dreamed. Even as a child, Doc knew he wanted to practice medicine. His heart was in Obstetric Medicine - it gave him joy to be able to see new life come into the world. After retiring from the military, he spent 26 years practicing in Brenham. He always enjoyed running into former patients and asking “How are your babies doing?”. He was intelligent, had a tremendous work ethic, and was diligent in providing the best care possible. He had a big heart and always remained grounded and humble in spite of his many accomplishments.

When he wasn’t seeing patients, Doc lived and breathed golf. He could often be found golfing and trading stories with a few of his closest friends. He also the enjoyed small pleasures in life, like hunting deer or enjoying some jelly beans. Doc loved family vacations; he and Laurie enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and Louisiana.

Doc is survived by his loving family: wife, Laurie; children, Todd Nobles and Brandy Nobles; grandchildren, Madison and Katrina; mother, La Verne Nobles; siblings, Pearl, Glenda, Vera Mae, Roy James; dog companion Shadow; close friends Paul Barnett, John Yacki, Gary Stein; numerous nieces, nephews; and many, many friends.

Doc is preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Nobles; brother, Lee Earl “Bubba” Nobles; and grandson Matthew.

Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, TX 77833. 979.836.3611 Tributes may be shared at www.BrenhamMemorialChapel.com.
