Obituary

William “Sonny” Peters, 86 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020.

William Henry Peters was born December 18, 1933 in the Kuykendall Community of Washington County to Albert Louis and Annie (Dryer) Peters. He was baptized January 14, 1934 and confirmed June 25, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran of Wiedeville, where he remained a lifelong member. He attended Kuykendall School. Sonny worked in commercial construction for Siptak Drywall in Houston for many years. He was a 50 year member of the Sons of Herman. Upon retirement, he moved to Hempstead. Sonny enjoyed spending time with his friends, going to dances, eating lunch together, or going fishing. He also enjoyed attending family reunions throughout his life. Recently as his health was declining, Sonny returned to Brenham to be near family.

He was preceded in death by parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and C.H. Petzolt, Doris and David Siptak, Eldon Mikeska, Glenwood Buerger, Herbert Schulze, Jr., J.C. Mondrofsky and Antone Kubeczka; and nephew Keith Eickenhorst.

Surviving family includes sisters and brother-in-law Deloris Mikeska, Annie Mae Buerger, Floreen Schulze, Gladys Mondrofsky, Carolyn Kubeczka, Elois and Johnny Eickenhorst; nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. The family requests that those in attendance please wear a mask and observe social distancing.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville with Pastor Ken Weiss officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charles Petzolt, Mark Eickenhorst, Joel Schulze, Eldon Mikeska Jr., Bobby Branham, Donald Siptak, Matt Buerger and Janie Branham. Honorary pallbearers will be all other nephews and nieces.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation who provided Sonny with such great care.
