Willie H. (Cooney) Shiflett - Guestbook

Rose and family -

My sympathy and empathy to all of you during this sad time of adjusting to losing your special loved one. Cooney certainly seemed to be quite the character and a pioneer in many ways. He lived a good and productive life and will be missed. May you smile and laugh at the many memories he bequeathed you all.

God bless

Steve Griffith (friend of Rose)

My deepest condolences go out to Rose and Glenda and the rest of their family. If dad was anything like these two extraordinary women then he was definitely a great man. I hope Rose continues to tell "daddy" stories as there is always a lesson to be learned or a golden nugget of wisdom in them. Since my mother passed on the 26th I am hoping that mom was one of his greeters in heaven. I am sending much love your way!

Rose, Liz, Dustin & family,

I will always remember the smiles that were shared amongst you as you discussed "Cooney." I know he held a special place in your hearts which make this time so difficult. A full life was shared with you and will give each of you special memories for the rest of your lives.

May knowing that friends are praying for all of you bring joy in the midst of the storm as you realize that he has no pain or worries now. May God give you His peace as you walk through this valley.

Love and blessings to all,

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Cooney, but for the past year, I've had the distinct pleasure of knowing his son, Tommy, and for a bit less time his daughter-in-law, Marilyn. David, Allison, Stephanie and Adam Sadler extend our deepest condolences to the Shiflett family.

David Sadler

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never Lark, or even Eagle flew -
And while with silent lifting mind, I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God."

Speaking with your "crew" here in MN, it seems many of the folks knew your father. Reading about his life, I get the sense of where you sprang from and how you became the majestic person that you are.

You can be sure our thoughts have been with you and we are sorry for your loss.

Life goes on, good or bad. We need you here in MN, return safely.

Tommy,

During these days of great sorrow you will be transported back to your youth, feeling the tearful loss of your father as a young child would. You will be thinking, sharing and reviewing the events you shared with your father, the events that have formed you into the man you are today.

Although you have had something precious taken away, you will be given the gift of feeling deeply, great appreciation, for what you have received as a son, a truly priceless gift.

Know the dear Lord is holding your father, with all the tenderness, care and love that you wish you could.

My sincere sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Dearest Betty and family,
My Uncle Cooney, what a tall, strong and handsome man. I can hear him call my parents, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and myself, baby sister. His voice and mannerisms had the unique gift of making you feel as though nothing bad could happen to you as long as he was around. He did love his family and Mrs. Betty has only reinforced his wonderful ways and actions.

No one can take his place! I love you Uncle Cooney, brother-in-law is waiting on you.

Love,
Baby sister,

Our condonlences go out to all the family. There aren't very many "pipeliners" left. Those that are, are such great story tellers, about the "old" days.
Just keep all memories close and charish them.
Rely on the Lord to get through this very difficult time.
