Willie Mae (Schmitt) Nutt died at Gazebo Terrace in Brenham on Monday, October 7, 2013 from Parkinson Disease.
She was born April 2, 1931 in Washington County, Texas, the only child of W. J. (Bill) and Lilly (Wasko) Schmitt. She was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham, where she continued membership throughout her life. She was a graduate of Brenham High School and Blinn College. During her school years she worked part time in the offices of the County School Superintendent, County Judge, and District Clerk. She married James E. Nutt on February 17, 1951, and worked for Tenneco(Tennessee Gas Transmission Company) and later worked at her father’s store, DeLaval Sales and Service. In 1960, she and her husband established Brenham Saddle Shop and continued in retail sales until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Survivors include her four sons Bill and wife Elizabeth, Neil, Ross, Boyd and wife Joy, one daughter Rona, eight grandchildren Jason and wife Rebecca, Jeffrey, Sage, Shea, Dalton, Michaela, Faith, Haley, one great-grandson James Patrick Nutt and one great-granddaughter Elina Rose Nutt.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Phil Fenton officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason and Jeffrey Nutt, Sage and Shea Nutt, David Schomburg and Don Studhalter.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or your favorite charity.
