Obituary

Alberta (Hohlt) Schulz, 84, of Brenham and the widow of Walter F. Schulz, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, in Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility, Bryan, TX.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26th, from 5-7 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27th, at 10 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Groves officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: grandsons and granddaughters; Robbie Moehlmann, Skylar Schulz, Matt Gutierrez, Kris Baker, Desmond Carr, Heidi Schulz, and Hannah Schulz. Honorary pallbearers will be all other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On July 9, 1928, Alberta was born to William and Meta (Wehring) Hohlt in Bleiblerville, TX. She was baptized November 4, 1928 and confirmed April 18, 1943 both at Welcome Lutheran Church. She attended Victoria School in Bleiblerville. On January 30, 1947, she was married to Walter Fritz Schulz at Welcome Lutheran Church by Rev. Walter Wolf. The Schulz family owned and operated Schulz Drive-in, where she was “Mrs. Schulz” or affectionately known as “Mama Schulz”. Alberta also was employed by Wal-Mart serving as manager of the shoe department for 17 years.

Alberta was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She was also involved in auxiliaries of VFW, DAV, and American Legion having served as president and various other offices. She was an avid Astros fan and enjoyed needlework.

Surviving loving family includes: children and their spouses, Shirley and Leroy Moehlmann, Walter, Jr. and Kim Schulz, Larry and Jody Schulz, Kathy and Clifford Miller; grandchildren, Robbie and Maura Moehlmann, Rachelle and Kris Baker, Matthew Polk, Nichole Thomas and fiancé Desmond Carr, Savannah and Matt Gutierrez, Heidi Schulz, Skylar Schulz, Hannah Schulz; great-grandchildren, Addyson Polk, Garrett Polk, Alexis Thomas, Caydence Carr, Gentri Gutierrez, Molly Moehlmann, Clara Baker, Audrey Baker; sister-in-law, Elbertha Hohlt; and numerous nieces.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, sister, brothers, step-sisters and brothers.
