Obituary

Anna Voelkel, 77 of Brenham, passed away Friday, December 17, 2010 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born August 19, 1933 to Herbert and Anna (Grenwelge) Wegner in Washington County. She was baptized November 12, 1933 and confirmed March 30, 1947. She attended Berlin and Harrisburg public schools before graduating from Brenham High School in 1952. On November 3, 1957, she married Norfleet Voelkel. Mrs. Voelkel worked at Hausman Grocery then at Brenham Wholesale Grocery, from where she retired after 30 years of employment. Mrs. Voelkel was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. She liked to cook, play dominoes and bingo. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers-in-law Benjamin Voelkel and Glady Krinke.

She is survived by: son, Steven Voelkel and wife Amy of Bellville; daughter Diana Rosenbaum and husband Gary of Brenham; grandchildren, Lois-Anna Voelkel, Sean Rosenbaum, Brayden Voelkel, Jill Rosenbaum and Wegner Voelkel; brother, John Wegner and wife Laverna of Houston; sister, Gertrude Krinke of Brenham.

Visitation will be Monday, December 20th from 6-8 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 21th at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. David Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Voelkel, Neal Pieper, Jeff Voelkel, Scott Wegner, Gary Rothermel and Brandon Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be David Folschinsky, Russell Voelkel, Kirk Campbell, and the employees of Brenham Wholesale Grocery.

Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
