Bryan Downs

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, Bryan Downs, of Hempstead, TX, lost his battle with cancer at the age of 56.

Bryan was born in West Monroe, Louisiana on December 27, 1965. He moved to Anchorage, Alaska with his family in 1982 & attended East Anchorage High School, where he met his wife, Connie. Bryan attended the Anchorage Police Academy, graduating in the top 10% of his class, & earned a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, followed by an MBA from the University of Phoenix, & spent the last 20 years working in healthcare information management.

Bryan enjoyed being outdoors. Whether it was camping in Alaska, sailing in California, or starting a farm in Texas, he put his heart into everything he did. He was known for his hard work, patience, leadership qualities, willingness to help anyone in need, & an overwhelming ability to calm an otherwise tense situation. He was also a devoted husband & father.

Bryan is survived by his loving wife, Connie, daughter, Melissa Self & husband Billy of Hempstead, TX, daughter, Kaila Downs, of Hempstead, TX, parents, Thomas & Carol Downs, of Soldotna, AK, brother John Downs & wife Maria of Gilbert, AZ, and numerous aunts, uncles, & cousins.

A service in memory of Bryan is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, TX 77833. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm. Additionally, there will be a graveside service at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery, 440 E. Klatt Rd., Anchorage, AK 99515 at 2:00pm, Saturday, October 15, 2022.
