Obituary

Dorothy M. Grohman, 86, peacefully passed away at her home on October 23, 2022. Dorothy was born on January 20, 1936, in Caldwell County, Texas to Herbert and Ella (Ehrlich) Ewald.

Dorothy loved dancing, gardening, fishing, camping, and cooking; but most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Alvis Grohman, Sr.; and by her parents and three siblings, Herbert, Jr., Ernest, Sr. and Adlinie Rathman; and by her great-grandson, Wyatt and daughter in law, Debra. She is survived by her sons Alvis Grohman, Jr. and wife Sharon, David Grohman and wife Judy, Lonnie Grohman and wife Tammy, James Grohman and wife Sherrie, Kevin Grohman and wife J’Nell; daughter Sherri Nichols and husband Ned; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 5pm to 7pm with a rosary beginning at 6pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel located at 2300 Stringer Street, Brenham, Texas. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022, at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 701 Church Street, Brenham, Texas with the burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 705 S. Austin St., Brenham, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be her 9 grandsons: Jason Grohman, Bryan Grohman, Lonnie Grohman II, Matthew Grohman, Dustin Grohman, Alan Grohman, Travis Grohman, Austin Nichols and Cameron Nichols.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham or to the Hospice or charity of your choice.
