Obituary


Ernest Paul Menn, 86, of Brenham and the widower of Frances Menn passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Country Care Plex in Giddings, TX.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 27th at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Mark Groves, officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Ernest Paul Menn was born April 23, 1927 in the Greenvine Community of Washington County, TX to Nita (Noak) and Adolph E. Menn. He was baptized on July 31, 1927 at Winedale Lutheran Church and confirmed on September 29, 1940 at the same church, both by Rev. H. Brunotte. Ernest was united in marriage to Frances Hopmann of New Wehdem at St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem on November 22, 1956 by Rev. George Perry.

Ernest attended Latium, Greenvine and Burton schools as well as Blinn College. He served in combat with the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. Mr. Menn was a carpenter by trade, loved woodworking and could be found most of the time in his work shop. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Buddy Wright Post #48 of the American Legion, where he served as a past commander. He loved to dance.

He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Nita Menn and in-laws Arno and Ella (Loesch) Hopmann, loving wife Frances, sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Lester Fuchs, sister-in-law Ella Mae Schatz, brother-in-law Paul Schumacher, nephew Joe Kaliszewski, Jr. and his adored friend Ann Yancey.

His loving family survives: son and daughter-in-law Paul and Whitney Menn of Houston; son Dr. Scott Menn of Albany, Oregon; brother and sister-in-law Franklin and Evelyn Menn of Brenham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Herbert and Lucile Bockhorn of Brenham; sister-in-law Elsie Schumacher of Rosenberg; brother-in-law Ruben Schatz of Liberty; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Debra Howell, Bill and Jan Potter, Glen Mayhew and the staff and employees of Country Care Plex.

Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church.
