Franklin Menn

Franklin Hermann Menn, age 92 of Brenham, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Franklin was born September 16, 1929 to parents Adolph E. and Nita (Noak) Menn in the Winedale community of Fayette County. He was baptized March 16, 1930 and confirmed October 18, 1942 by Rev. Brunette at Winedale Lutheran Church. He attended Latium and Greenvine schools. On October 3, 1970 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Hodde Schilling at Salem Lutheran Church. He immediately became a loving father to Evelyn’s two daughters, Sharon and Gloria.

Franklin spent his early years working on the family farm in Greenvine. He then became employed at Lone Star Beer Distributors in Brenham while continuing to farm in the Salem community. After he retired from Lone Star, he enjoyed gardening, working with his cattle, and taking many car rides through the countryside. He also enjoyed spoiling the grandkids with Dairy Queen ice cream treats. Franklin and Evelyn enjoyed spending time with their friends at many dances.

He is survived by loving family: daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Joe Martella, Gloria and Jim Arnold; grandchildren Jacob Martella, Joshua Martella, Jason and Kellye Arnold, Jeremy and Madison Arnold, Lauren Arnold, Austin Arnold, and Dalton Arnold; great-grandsons Jonah Arnold and Henry Ray Arnold (due in July); brother-in-law and sister-in-law Clarence and Diana Hodde; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, wife Evelyn Menn, brother and sister-in-law Ernest and Frances Menn, and sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Lester Fuchs.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 19 beginning at 8 am, with family present from 5-7 pm in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 20 at 10 am at Salem Lutheran Church with Dr. Craig Dohse officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Kruse Village for their loving care over the past four years, the staff at Baylor Scott & White Hospital and Hospice Brazos Valley over the past two weeks.

Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church or Hospice Brazos Valley.
