Obituary

Karen Yvonne Eckert, better known as KK to those who knew her, was born in Houston, Texas to Richard and Edith Curlee and was the oldest of 3 siblings. KK had a great love of life, family, and faith. She had a passion for crocheting blankets for new family members, baking, traveling, and most of all spending time with family and friends. She was very strong in her faith and was a diligent servant to God.

KK passed peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at her home with her loving husband at her side. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Richard L Curlee and Edith Ramey Walter; her stepfather, James H Walter; and brother-in-law, Reggie Winegeart. Karen is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Mark D. Eckert of Brenham; In-Laws , H Charles Eckert and Juanita Rosalee Gebert Eckert of Mason; her children, John W Baranowski and wife Courtney of Lubbock, Jeffery W Baranowski and wife Tina of Sheridan, Travis W Eckert and wife Lindsey of Washington, Sara A Williams and husband Daryl of Cameron; her siblings, Linda A Wingeart of Angleton, Richard L Curlee III and wife Tracey of Brenham, M’Liss and Dalin Bruns, Michael C Eckert of Mason; as well as 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for KK will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 2pm to 7pm with family present from 5pm to 7pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel located at 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 10am at St. John Lutheran Church Prairie Hill located at 6605 Old Independence Rd., Brenham, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Ricky Curlee, Aaron Curlee, Kyle Curlee, Landon Kovar, Chris Gerik, Clayton Arnold, BJ Schulke and Artie Miller.
