Obituary

Marvin Lee “Red” Weidemann, Sr., 81, passed away on November 12, 2021. Marvin was born July 21, 1940 in Burton, Texas to Meta (Glaesmann) and Leland Weidemann.

Marvin attended Brenham High School and was part of the graduating class in 1959. He then attended Blinn College and two years later received his Associates Degree. He was working at a local textile mill and met his future in-laws prior to meeting and marrying the love of his life. During those early years, he enjoyed dancing and time with family. In the midst of getting his career established and starting a family, he was drafted in 1963 by the Army. After his time in the Army, he resumed his employment with Brenham Cotton Mill which later became Mt. Vernon Mills as a Card Room Supervisor where he worked for a combined 45 years. After retiring, his interest turned to collecting and modifying guns. He loved guns and manufacturing, staining, and polishing his own gun stocks. In addition to his love of guns he also loved fishing and going on fishing trips with family and friends. When he couldn’t be on the water fishing he would be in his driveway dry casting and practicing how he would catch his next big fish! He then focused his attention on reproducing music and he appreciated music of all genres and eras. Many times, he shared music recordings with those around him. Later, photography became his main interest and he loved to take photos and make copies of older photos and videos to share. He learned how to burn DVDs and shared many family videos with the extended family. Genealogy and family history became a later interest of his and he enjoyed working on and advancing the family tree. He always loved having fun and never met a joke that he did not like.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents Leland and Meta (Glaesmann) Weidemann, loving wife Beulah (Krause) Weidemann, brother-in-law R. C. “Buddy” Becker, brother and sister-in-law Irwin and Jackie Weidemann, and sister-in-law Jeannie Weidemann and father and mother-in-law Henry T. and Louise Krause. He is survived by son Marvin Weidemann Jr., son and daughter-in-law Marcus and Kathy Weidemann (Brenham), son and daughter-in-law Mars and Janie Weidemann (Brenham), son and daughter-in-law Marty and Debbie Weidemann (Cypress), daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Patrick Broesche (Burton), brother Lawrence Weidemann (Houston), sister Myrtle Becker (Giddings), several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
