Obituary

Patricia ‘Pat’ Bennett Ahlhardt, age 80, passed peacefully from this world on February 5, 2023. Patricia Annette Crosby was born to Thomas ‘T.M.’ and Sarah Crosby on January 21, 1943 in Houston, Texas. Patricia had one older brother, Thomas Ludy Crosby who she always admired and was close to. Patrica’s favorite childhood memories were visiting her grandmother Myrtle Crosby and playing with her Crosby cousins on the Brazos River and spending time with her grandmother, Ida Patterson in Houston. Patricia graduated from Austin High School in 1961. Patricia met Samuel Thomas ‘Tommy’ Bennett underneath the grand oak tree at the weekend dance at Garner State Park. They dated for four years and were married on July 28, 1964. Pat and Tommy had two children, Lisa Annette Bennett and Jeffrey Thomas Bennett. Pat and Tommy spent much of their time fishing on the Trinity Bay, visiting cousins on the Brazos River, weekending at the farm in Greenvine with the Bennett family and going on road trips to see Pat’s brother and his wife in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Pat worked as a clerk and coordinator at the Harris County Family Law Center for 26 years before retiring in 2002. Pat and Tommy most loved their roles as Granny and Pop to their six grandchildren. Pat and Tommy built their retirement home in the community of Greenvine, Texas. After Tommy passed away unexpectedly, Pat was remarried to George Ahlhardt, a cattleman, neighbor, and fellow Greenvine Baptist Church member on October 4, 2005.

Throughout her life Patricia was an active part of her community. She volunteered with the Sheldon Optimist Club and the Washington County Extension Education Association. She volunteered for ten years with Burton Bridge Ministry where she was in charge of delivering home bound meals to senior citizens within her community. Pat also taught Sunday school and volunteered at vacation bible school for many years. She wanted everyone to know how much they were loved by Jesus. Patricia enjoyed all the people that God placed in her life and was a ‘social butterfly’. She was also a faithful prayer warrior and loved to send cards and letters to keep in touch with her loved ones. Pat was famous for baking her delicious chocolate cake for special occasions. Pat enjoyed taking pictures of friends and family and she made everyone feel special and loved. Pat spent her last days making crafts and gifting them to her loved ones.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Murray and Sarah Elizabeth Crosby and her husband Samuel Thomas Bennett. Patricia is survived by her husband George Ahlhardt, children, Lisa Bennett Jenkins and Jeffrey Thomas Bennett and wife Brandy, and her grandchildren Alexandra Bennett, Hannah Schroeder and husband Thomas; Colton Bennett, Madison Jenkins, Abrianna Bennett, and John Mason Jenkins. Patricia also leaves behind her dear brother, Thomas Ludy Crosby and wife Nosi, sister-in-law Kathy Healey, many Crosby cousins and a multitude of nieces, nephews, in laws, close neighbors and friends.

The family would like to thank all those that provided compassion and care during Patricia’s illness. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or an animal rescue of your choosing.

Services will be held at Greenvine Baptist Church on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 2pm followed by an interment service and a time of fellowship. All are invited to celebrate the life and love of Patricia Bennett Ahlhardt.
