Obituary

On December 29, 2022, Brenham lost one of its treasured community members, Pete Miller. Pete was a small-town Brenham boy. He was born January 18, 1942 on a cold, rainy night with the help of Dr. Herrman Hodde, who drove a 1940 Chevy coop down a muddy road west of Brenham to deliver Pete.

Growing up, Pete attended Catholic school, Brenham High School and Barber College in San Antonio. Pete cut hair for over 50 years and he loved his time with his customers because it was an hour full of joy and friendship.

Prior to passing, Pete wrote, “I was looking for love in all the wrong places then one night I met the love of my life, Suzanne Niebuhr at a dance hall”. A year later they were married on October 17, 1964.

Pete loved to cook and he enjoyed testing out new recipes and hosting gatherings for his family and friends. Pete was known for his BBQ and he was passionate about designing his own BBQ pits. He enjoyed fishing with his friends, and he treasured the book Remembering Brenham, autographed by Dr. “Boy” Hasskarl. Pete led a life full of spice, whether it be cooking or his personality and attitude.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Suzanne Miller, and his beloved dog Tina. He will be missed by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, his cooking and fishing buddies, along with his barbershop friends. All will miss his kind, fun loving heart.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 24th from 11AM-2PM at Fireman’s Kitchen at Fireman’s Park. If so inclined, memorials honoring Pete are suggested to the Humane Society or an animal rescue group of your choice.

Pete left a note titled Christmas Saying
“May every joy be yours this holiday season and throughout the coming year 2023 Happy New Year.”
