Obituary

Sandra Kay Cegelski beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at her home on December 30, 2022. She was 62.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4th from 5 to 7 P.M. with a Rosary at 7 P.M. at Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 5th at 10 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 9175 FM 1371, Chappell Hill. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Sandra was born August 6, 1960 in Chappell Hill to Henry Sr. and Theresa (Gurka) Derkowski. On July 26, 1980, she was united in marriage to Larry Cegelski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. They welcomed their first daughter Ashlie in January 1986. Five years later they welcomed their second daughter Chelsea.

Sandra was employed at Germania Insurance from December 18, 1989 to April 27, 2018. After retiring from Germania, she opened an adult and children boutique called Lace n Linen. She enjoyed decorating weddings and selling clothes at many craft shows. Later, she moved her clothing into Lox Salon in Brenham.

Sandra really enjoyed cooking and always brought so much food to family functions. She was known for making the best pickles and was a threat at all cookoffs for her award winning beans.

Sandra’s pride and joy were her four grandchildren. She always made sure they had an outfit for every occasion. She loved taking them shopping and would always spoil them with a toy. She also liked taking her three granddaughters to get a manicure and pedicure. She made all school functions and enjoyed watching them play their sports. She devoted her life to her family and loved to watch and support them in all their many endeavors.

Sandra is survived by her husband Larry; children Ashlie Bachmann and husband Michael, Chelsea Quinteros and husband Joel; grandchildren Brylee and Breanne Bachmann, Ryan and Rhett Quinteros; brother Henry Jr. and wife Pat Derkowski and additional siblings, brother-in-law Rick and wife Ann Cegelski, sister-in-law Shirley and husband Kenny Kaminski; and numerous family and friends.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Henry Sr. and Theresa Derkowski, sister Shirley, brother Bernard and best friend Cammie Ganske.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Derkowski, Brian (Duke) Derkowski, Kevin Kaminski, Logan Cegelski, Michael Cegielski, Tommy Cegielski and Jason Kubeczka.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Brylee and Breanne Bachmann, Ryan and Rhett Quinteros.

Memorials may be given to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and Hospice Brazos Valley.
