Obituary

Allyne Prenzler Derrick, 96, of Burton, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village.

On November 2, 1917, Allyne was born to Will and Betty (Bosse) Prenzler in Burton. She was baptized December 25, 1917 by Rev. H. Schulz and confirmed March 20, 1932 by Rev. A. Walton both at St. Johns UCC, Burton. She attended school in Burton and was a graduate of Brenham High School. On July 4, 1937, she was married to Erwin Derrick by Rev. Edwin Eiben at St. Johns UCC. Allyne was a devoted wife and mother. With Erwin working in the oil fields, they made their home in New Mexico and Texas City and La Marque, Texas. In 1972 they retired and lived on her parent’s land in Burton.

Allyne was a faithful member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Texas City, Trinity Lutheran, La Marque and St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg, Burton. She was active in women’s ministry at local and conference levels. Her passion was sewing and quilting for family and with Sewing Circles at St. Paul Lutheran and St. Johns UCC churches and attending their Women’s Bible Study. Allyne remained active in Burton Fire Department Auxiliary and Lioness Club. She enjoyed playing cards and dominos.

She was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Erwin in 1989; two infant daughters, Betty Ann and Baby Derrick; daughter-in-law, Rosemary “Ro” Derrick; sister and brother-in-law, Minnie Lee and Earl Landua; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Surviving loving family: son, Pastor Bill Derrick; grandchildren, Julyne and Nick Siewert, Jason Derrick; great-grandchildren, Kerrigan Derrick, William Parker Siewert; nieces and nephews, Carol and Arlin Naegeli, Joyce and Herbert Rust, Donald Derrick; special friends Justine Morton, Jane and Mark Crocker; numerous cousins.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, September 26th from 6-8 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 27th at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg with Rev. Denise Seymour officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Burton.

Pallbearers will be Arlin Naegeli, Herbert Rust, Donald Derrick, Justine Morton, Jane Crocker, Dale Schwartz, Megan Jackson, Chris Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Glen and Dottie Schoeneberg, Kenneth and Paula Moerbe, Sewing Circles and Women’s Bible Study members of St. Paul Lutheran and St. Johns UCC churches.

Memorials are suggested to Erwin and Allyne Derrick Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund Texas Lutheran University, 1000 W. Court St., Seguin, TX 78155, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg, Hospice Brazos Valley.
