Arthur "Al" Wozniak

Arthur “Al” Wozniak, 90 of Brenham, passed away April 13, 2019.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, April 17 from 6-8 p.m. and funeral services will be Thursday, April 18 at 11 a.m. both held at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Pastor Allen McClure of Champion Fellowship Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Arthur Lee Wozniak was born December 22, 1928 in Brenham to Ignac and Frances (Washerlesky) Wozniak. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Brenham High School. On October 10, 1950, Al married Rosalie Katie Batdorf.

Al’s military career began by serving two years in the Navy and then 18 years in the Air Force, with time in Korea and on Iwo Jima. In January 1968, he moved to Florida to organize and lead the astronaut rescue team. He served 8 years involved with each manned flight during that time. In 1975 he began a 20 year Civil Service career as Training Chief at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. He taught Fire Protection at night at Albuquerque College and New Mexico Firefighters Academy. He received numerous awards and accolades for his expertise in fire safety.

Al retired at age 69 and in 2016 returned to his hometown of Brenham. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and doing household chores for his wife. Watching baseball, football and Westerns were favorite pastimes.

Arthur was preceded in death by parents and sister Jan Marie Hennigar.

Surviving family includes: wife of 68 years, Rosalie Wozniak; son, Arthur “Art” Wozniak and fiancee Julie of Brenham; daughter, Cynthia “Cyndie” Worden and husband Vernon of New Mexico; grandchildren, Eric Wozniak, Aaron Wozniak, Travis Wozniak, Miranda Wozniak, Nathan Worden and wife Kelli and Matthew Worden and wife Logan, great-grandchildren, Aiden Worden and Eva Worden; siblings and their spouses, Louis J. Wozniak, Ignac and Camilla Wozniak, Jr., Mary and Emil Richter, Emily and Eugene Pawlack, Michael and Linda Wozniak.

Memorials are requested to The American Heart Association.
