Grandpa! I love you SO much! I will never forget going to church every week with you which brought me closer to God. I'm having a little one here soon and in honor of you and my father his name will be Chemo Ellick Artorius - which Artorius is another name for arthur meaning- Noble, courageous; related to the obscure Roman family name Artorius. Other possible sources include an Irish Gaelic word meaning "stone," and artos, the Celtic word for "bear." Most English speakers will associate this name with legendary King Arthur. Also, from the Icelandic, meaning a follower of Thor, the Norse god of war.

I will truly miss you with all my heart and i will never forget you and all your goofy sayings like " find a stump to put your rump" and " it's time to hit my fart sack!" Lol. Also, your famous breakfast S.O.S. or S*%! On a shingle as you'd always say back from your military days! Until we meet again in heaven! I love you papa!

I was a FireFighter Captain and Training Officer with Bernalillo County Fire Department in the 80's when I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friends with Chief Wozniak. I'm saddened to know of his passing. I'm a Security Officer now working part time and think of those days as I was thinking what a wonderful warm human being he was. He will always be in my heart.

Dearest Wozniak Family,
We were all very saddened to hear of My buddy's passing. Please know we share in your grief. Such a hard way to find out that "Daddy" as a few close friends of Al called him, will be missed greatly by many. I am sorry I had not responded sooner but I didn't know that he went on to be with the Lord until just today after trying to get in contact with him these past two weeks to set up a visit with him and Rose as I have before while passing thru to New Mexico to visit my other family. Al was a dear friend and such the mentor to me since the first time I met him in June of 1978 at Kirtland AFB. Truly he was one of a kind!
As such as a few others have mentioned, one of the attributes he was so kind in sharing was his fondness for cooking WOZ specialties, the Woz Dog, and green chili SOS to which I still cook as part of my meals.
I am also blessed to know I could always count on getting a truthful answer from him on matters because of his faith in Jesus. I do mourn for his loss but also know our faith tells us that Woz has gone to his eternal rest. It should give us solace to know that he is at peace with God and will reap his just rewards for the good life that he lived and that his Christian bothers and sisters shall see him again.

The Bible says "Blessed are they that mourn for they will be comforted." I pray that God will bestow his choicest blessings on you all.

First, ny deepest condolences to the Wozniak family. For the last year or so, Chief John Ortega who worked with Al and I had been trying to locate him so we could go visit him. Chief Ortega just found out a few days ago that Chief Wozniak had passed. I have been sad since I found out.

Al was a strong supporter of me as I started as training officer in Santa Fe. He routinely invited me to his training at KAFB and I had him come up to Santa Fe to train us in aircraft firefighting. He was a walking book of firefighting knowledge.

I will forever be grateful to this gift God gave us with Al.

RIP my dear mentor, friend, and brother. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

And, how can I forget the famous Woz Dogs!!

We just heard of his passing. He was a mentor, friend and one of the best Training Chief's I had the privilege to learn from and try to emulate in my life. My condolences to your family and I wanted you to know that he impacted many lives not only in the Fire Service but in life. I will never forget him.

Uncle Al was my favorite uncle - he could make me laugh like no one else. I will certainly miss his wisecracks and his generous spirit. The world has lost one of a kind. I never saw him without a big smile on his face. I am so thankful that he was part of my life.

A good heart has stopped beating, a good soul rose to heaven, closer to God. The pain of losing my favorite uncle will forever remain in my heart.

He was a great guy, always upbeat and nothing seemed to faze him or get him down.

Rose, children, and grandchildren,

My deepest sympathies on the passing of your husband, father and grandfather. Al was a dear friend and mentor from the days when we served together at the Kennedy Space Center. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to reconnect with him earlier this year and our several phone conversations were enlightening and enjoyable.
Al's leadership and commitment was the reason the development of the Apollo Astronaut Rescue Team was such a success. I am honored to have served with him at the Kennedy Space Center and proud to call him friend. May he Rest in Peace in his Heavenly home.
