Obituary

Ava Marguerite Meier Mattingly passed away quietly on January 31, 2007 in Brenham.

She was born January 15, 1900 in Saratov, Russia, and in 1905 moved with her parents, Gottfried and Amelia Meier to Shattuck, Oklahoma. Before marrying Lewis Alfred Mattingly in 1926, she worked in Marion, Kansas, and Denver, Colorado. She and her husband, Alfred, moved to Houston in 1945, and she lived there before moving to the Brenham area in 1993.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alfred, and her son, Lewis.

She is survived by her sisters, Emily Ingle and Pauline Smith, of Shattuck, Oklahoma; her daughter-in-law, Mary Avanelle Mattingly of Houston; her five grandchildren and their spouses, Wade and Laurie Mattingly of Houston, Scott and Mary Mattingly of Columbus, Mitch and Nancy Mattingly of Houston, Martha and Bean Burr of Goodrich, Michigan, and Anne and Darin Weinheimer of Houston; sixteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kruse Memorial Village Chapel in Brenham.
