I was so deeply saddened to hear about Butch's passing. He was a wonderful man with his many contributions to the community and law enforcement. You have my deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. May God ease this painful period for you. Dave and I were blessed to have shared many memories with you and Butch. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

My mom made a donation to Hart’s rescue in Mr. Faske’s name. Although I did not know Mr. Faske, the fact that he loved animals tells me that he and I shared a lot in common.

It’s so hard to lose a parent but knowing what a wonderful relationship Butch had with his children, I know that warm memories will someday take over the pain of losing him. He wanted his family to be happy.

To BF,

Butch and I were childhood friends all the way through kindergarten, grade school, high school even confirmation. There were four of us who were fast friends during those formative years. Of us, Butch was always the most level-headed which, most likely, kept us out of trouble and on the straight and narrow. Even then he was thinking like the great lawman he became. Always weighing the consequences and making good decisions. I learned a lot from Butch and his family and the way they lived their lives.
Betsy, you influenced my life substantially with just one event. On your wedding day, you introduced me to your college roommate and my future wife. For that I am forever grateful.
I have been where you are regarding grieving. As Rev. Laura Mayo writes, we are surrounded by fellow travelers on our journey, many of whom are themselves grieving. In our sharing, we surround ourselves with a love that can never die. Your friends want to help. Let them help.

Your son Bruce has been a God send for me in my spiritual life, personal life, and musical life. Butch, you have served me well with the gift of your son Bruce.

Dear Betsy & family, my sincere sympathy. It's so heartbreaking to loose ones husband & so many wonderful years of marriage & raising a family. Shortly after Dee died I saw Butch & he mentioned a time I believe you all were leaving the hospital in Bryan & how Dee helped him to the car. It was the highlight of my day to hear these words so shortly after Dees death. It's the simple words & gestures in Life that will keep you going in the days ahead.
