Obituary

Dr. Robert Schaer Stark, age 65, of Brenham and Chappell Hill, went to be with the Lord Jesus
on Reformation Sunday, October 31st, 2021. Even as a life-long Lutheran who adamantly
believed in Jesus and Martin Luther’s teachings of “sola fide,” salvation by faith alone, Doc lived by quiet, yet profound, deeds of service as an overflow of his faith in Christ.

Doc was a graduate of Brenham High School, class of 1974, Blinn College, The University of
Texas, and The Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 1985, he returned to Brenham to begin to care for his family and his community, opening his own medical practice on North Park Street, which he ran with his wife, Beth, for over thirty years.

Doc had a wide range of interests, allowing him to cultivate a broad and dear circle of friends. He was a lifetime member of both Graham Masonic Lodge #20 and Hubert Lodge #67,
committed to assisting the organization in “making great men better” and supporting the
education of children in local public schools. Coupled with his passion for taking care of his patients, Doc loved to support the wellbeing of Brenham Athletics, providing additional
healthcare when needed and cooking breakfast for the football team on Friday mornings. He also carried on his mother and father’s legacies of celebrating the community’s youth as well as its history by being an active member of the Brenham Maifest’s Board of Directors for thirty years. Doc served as a medical director for the Washington County EMS, also for over thirty years. He was recently honored in June of 2021 by the EMS’ state association, being given the TAA President’s Award for his lifetime of service.

As Jesus promises in Matthew 10:39, in giving away his life, to his family, his friends, his
patients, and his community, Doc found it - true, abundant life.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Delbert Stark, his brothers, Duke and James John Stark, his grandmothers, Sadie Stark and Blanche Schaer, as well as his grandfathers Herbert Stark and Robert Schaer. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Beth, his children and their spouses, Julianna and Tyler Wanek, Elizabeth Stark, and Robert and Alli Stark, as well as his mother, Sudie Stark, his brother, Bubba Stark, and many other beloved, in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 at Brenham Memorial Chapel from
5-7 PM, and the service will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, Thursday,
November 4th, 2021 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to some of Doc’s
favorite heroes, the Washington County EMS. Checks may be made out to Washington County
EMS and mailed to 1875 Highway 290 West Brenham, Tx 77833.
