Ponch was a friend when I served congregations in and near Brenham. A devout Catholic, he was always careful to remain faithful, even though he called me "pastor." Over the 15 years I was there he called to share his joys and sorrows, his hopes and assurance that he did not fear death, knowing that he would be with family and friends who had gone before. He was a man born in the wrong century, his love of family and simple faith sometimes made life in today's world difficult for him, but he never surrendered his dignity and devotion to God and family.
I remember him with sadness for his passing, and fondness for our friendship. Ponch, Rest in Peace.Amen
