Obituary

Harold “Cotton” Finke, of Brenham and the husband of Betty Jean “Jeanie” Finke, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Cotton was born October 20, 1940 to Louis and Elma Finke. Cotton was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Prairie Hill.

Cotton was a familiar face around Brenham as he owned and operated Cotton Finke Service Station for many years. When he retired from his station the work didn’t stop as he continued to work for Kenjura Exxon , Four Corners Exxon and then continued to stay active as he delivered The Banner Press. He would be described as helpful, friendly and humble. He never met a stranger and loved many things about his life, such as, football, baseball, the Brenham Cubs and fast pitch softball but most of all he loved his family and his friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Cotton is preceded in death by his parents; Louis and Elma Finke, his father and mother in law; Dennis and Bertha Wittner, his siblings; Shirley Finke and Delores Wiesepape, Floyd and Weldon Finke, brother in laws; Edsel Wiesepape and Walter Storrs along with sister in law; Linda Finke. Cotton is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jeanie Finke; their children, Kim Hartnett and her husband Jerry and Jeff Finke and his wife Lori; his grandchildren, Lauren Hartnett Tiernan and husband Peter, Mason Hartnett and wife Ashley, step-granddaughters, Shaye and Amber Boeker; great grand-children, Madisyn and Hadley Hartnett and Claire and Lillian Tiernan; his siblings, Elroy Finke, Oranell Storrs, and Darlene Kelly; sister in laws, Shirley and Sherry Finke along with numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Pallbearers for Cotton will be: Kenny Krueger, David Dryer, Mike Leonard, Jerry Kieke and Mason Hartnett.

Visitation for Cotton Finke will be Friday, January 8, 2021 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services for Cotton Finke will be Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2 p.m. in Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Jill Vivroux officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery of Industry.
