Obituary

Harold “Lefty” Wayne Yarnold, 79, passed away suddenly Friday, October 25, 2019 in Brenham and went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Lefty was born on May 10, 1940 in Canadian, Texas to Edwin and Ruth (Brinson) Yarnold. He grew up on a farm and began his early education in a one room school house. Lefty graduated from Canadian High School, he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and Masters in Finance at Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He worked over 40 years in the oil industry with Gulf Oil and Firestone.

After retiring to his country place in Brenham, he spent time appreciating all forms of nature. He was active in Bluebonnet Master Gardener Association and Texas Master Naturalist GLC where he volunteered to teach school children about nature.

Lefty was a faithful member of Brenham’s First Baptist Church, where he was an ordained deacon and attended Covenant Keepers Sunday school class. He gives “God the glory” that while living with cancer for the past 21 years, he got to see his own children grow up, start their own families and be involved in his grandchildren lives.

He will be dearly missed by his love ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Creator. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, LuAn Yarnold, daughter Jodie Alanis, her husband Frank, son John Yarnold, his wife Jennifer, and their children, Makenzie, Ethan, Macy, Makayla Yarnold, daughter Ginger Bradshaw, her husband Noel, and their children Jackson and Sydney, and daughter Holly Byrd, her husband Tommy, and their sons Dylan and Cody. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis Yarnold, sister Patsy Atterberry and husband Bob, sister-in-law Pam Yarnold, brother-in-law Tracy Watson and wife Beth. He is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Ruth Yarnold, and brother Roy Yarnold.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 3:00-5:00 pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 at 10:00 am at Brenham’s First Baptist Church on Market Street. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
