Obituary

Jessie Fay Goodwin, loving wife, mother, aunt and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, the 26th of July, 2020. She was 92 years old.

Fay was born on October 28, 1927 to Katie and Rufus Wright. She was a native Houstonian and attended Sam Houston High School. In 1947 she married Donald Wood Goodwin, who had served in the Navy during WWII. Fay was employed as an executive secretary for the Spring Branch Independent School District for many years. In 1979, Fay and Don made the decision to make Washington County their home. Fay was one of founding members of the Friends of Bluebonnet Opry. Recently She had become an honorary member and had a front row seat waiting for her at each event. Fay was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville and a resident of La Roche Manor at Kruse Village.

Fay is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Don Goodwin. She is survived by her proud son and daughter-in-law Glen and Theresa Goodwin. Aunt Fay and Uncle Don were a very important part of Theresa’s extended family. Fay and Don were also lovingly welcomed into the family of Bubba and Shirley Dreyer when the moved to the Brenham area.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with the family present starting at 4:00 pm. Due to public health concerns associated with COVID-19, the graveside service will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Bluebonnet Opry. (P.O. Box 2334, Brenham, Texas 77834-2334) which supports the local Brenham Hospice branch.
