Obituary

Jeanette Erlene Steinbach, 88, died February 14, 2019 at her residence in San Diego, California.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 2 from 4-5:30 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Jeanette was born and raised in Brenham, Texas, the daughter of Martin Charles and Malinda Zander Schroeder. She married Leon Henry Steinbach in 1950. Jeanette moved to San Diego, California in 2008 to be near her children and granddaughter.

She attended Brenham Schools where she graduated from high school. Jeanette attended classes at Blinn College. In her early twenties, she started her career as a bookkeeper and secretary. She worked at several businesses including an insurance firm, a car dealership and an oil and gas company. Jeanette retired in her middle sixties. Until her death, she kept her own books to the penny as the professional she was.

Jeanette was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved to listen to music and go dancing and bowling with Leon. She also liked to watch golf, the Yankees, the Astros, and the Cowboys. She was an avid reader her entire life.

Jeanette had a gift for striking up a conversation with almost anyone and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by son Jeffrey Lee Steinbach, husband Leon Henry Steinbach, and parents Martin C. and Malinda Schroeder.

She is survived by son Leon Rawls Steinbach, daughter Renee Steinbach Bridge, son in-law Stephen Bridge, sister Sonja Marie Bourne, granddaughter Lee Chandos Bridge, and niece Heather Marie Nash.

Pallbearers will be Steve Bridge, Robert Loesch, William Loesch, Barney Loesch, Dennis Tipton and Brock Tipton.

Instead of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library.
