Obituary

Jimmie Lynn McCoy Fricke passed away on December 11, 2018. She fought the good fight and now she is in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate Jimmie's life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 5, 2019, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill.

Jimmie was born on January 24, 1957, to Jim Wesley McCoy and Virginia Ballengee McCoy of Brenham, Texas. Jimmie grew up in Chappell Hill and also in Brenham. Jimmie graduated Brenham High School in 1975. On April 30, 1984, Jimmie married the love of her life, Jeffrey Fricke. They moved into their dream home on their tenth anniversary, April 30, 1994. Jimmie’s talent and love was obvious throughout the house. She put her heart and soul into everything she did.

Jimmie painted houses in her younger years. In more recent years, she went to work with her dear friend Sharon Machac in the school district, and they also worked together for Project SEARCH. Jimmie and Sharon were an amazing team. Jimmie had a love and passion for her students; she always wanted to help them and do what was best for them. She truly never met a stranger. She showed such love and compassion to all the students in her care over the years, regardless of mental ability, skin color, or social status. The kids will always remember their “Fricke”, especially her amazing laugh and smile.

In 2015, Jimmie took early retirement to care for her mother. Sadly, in July 2017, Jimmie was diagnosed with ALS. This brutal disease robbed her of the ability to take care of others, physically, but in her heart she continued to love and care for her family and friends in other ways. Jimmie had a kind, giving soul, and she never gave up. She always showed love to everyone, especially her husband, family, and friends.

Jimmie is survived by her husband and forever love, Jeffrey Fricke. Also surviving her is her mother, Virginia Ballengee McCoy; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Frank Bednarek; sisters Beverly McCoy and Donna McCoy; her mother-in-law and father-in-law who loved her dearly, Edgar and Esse Lee Fricke; brother-in-law Trace Fricke and wife Donna; brother-in-law Matt Fricke; nieces and nephews Graig Bednarek and wife Dana, Lisa Zela, Angela Bryon and husband Danny, Susan Bednarek, Jeff Thiel, Matt Thiel, Lindsey Fricke, Jon and Susie Fricke, Jordan Fricke and Jayme; great-nieces and great-nephews, Courtney and Christa Bednarek, Elisabeth and Julie Stempuhowski, Colton and Tanner Zela, Emerson and Wesley Thiel, Carlyn, Cade, and Casen McCoy, Essie Leigh, Davis, and Brynleigh; and numerous cousins and friends.

Jimmie is predeceased by her father, Jim McCoy.

Jimmie recently started attending St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, and was touched and inspired by their love and kindness. Thank you Pastor Skip!

We would like to especially thank Hospice Brazos Valley for their love and compassion to us while we made this journey. Our love and gratitude to Haley, Jenny, and Chaplain Doug - the love and faith you showed her carried her through many dark days. Thank you, Jackie. Jimmie said often that you have a sweet soul. Thank you Susanne for always being there for Jimmie. Sharon, she loved you like a sister. Janet, she missed you so much - we know you two are sharing hugs and laughter right now. And a thank you to Bill W. and Dr. Bob for a life better lived. James and Lynette Hodde, we love you both.

There are too many more friends and family to name. Jimmie loved each and every one of you. Though we miss her, we know that through you, her spirit lives on.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

“I love you, Jimmie Lynn, I always have and always will. God put us together and made us for a reason. Until we meet again, my love. I always promised you it would be forever - and it will be.
Your adoring husband, Jeffrey.”
