Michael (Mike) Dwayne Prewitt

Michael (Mike) Dwayne Prewitt, age 72, of Chappell Hill, Texas, peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home on October 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and dog, Sadie.

He was born in Baytown, Texas, on December 12, 1952, to John and Elizabeth Prewitt.
A 1972 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Mike dedicated 35 years of service to the City of Baytown, where he held various roles and retired in 2008 as Assistant Director of Public Works.

On March 1, 1974, Mike married the love of his life, Susan Schaer, in Baytown, Texas. Together they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage.

Mike loved spending time outdoors, but most of all, he cherished every moment with his family and dogs. During hunting season, you could always find him at the Comstock deer lease, sitting around the campfire and sharing stories with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Elizabeth Prewitt; sister Debbie McCall; and niece Tina Tilton.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Susan; his children, Billy Prewitt and wife, Lori, and Courtney Prewitt and wife, Melissa; his beloved grandchildren, Emma Prewitt and Peyton Prewitt; his sister, Linda Clement and husband, Raymond; and his nephews, John Stewart and Stephen McCall. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025, followed by a funeral service celebrating Mike’s life at 2:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Gospel Preacher John Dowling officiating. Interment will take place at Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill.

Serving as pallbearers are Donnie Casey, Walter Wells, Mark Cegielski, Glenn Malone, Joey Robinson and Eric Ungar.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or Heroes Hunt.
