Marie, Richard and Barbara, I am so very sorry for your loss.
Marie, you and Calvin have been such faithful servants of the Lord all of your lives. God will take care of you. Let Him. We will never forget that you and Calvin were the first people to welcome us to Brenham and FUMC. I love you and will be praying for you all during the day and evening.

It is no small thing when a minister dies.

Rev. Calvin Beckendorf’s death is profound; he was our friend and pastor. He impacted our lives in so many ways.

Can you imagine the number of Sundays Calvin faithfully stood in the pulpit and preached the Word of God, most assuredly leading one or more of us to the Lord and helping us grow in our faith? He was known, loved, and respected community-wide everywhere he served.

As I remember Calvin, his relationship with my late Methodist minister father, and of many other ministers known and loved over sixty years who were Calvin’s friends and peers, I celebrate their simple, old fashioned faith that made us strong, that enabled us to love and live, and showed you and me, by example, how to walk with Jesus Christ.

So, Calvin’s death is no small thing. As we mourn his leaving, we give thanks for his and Marie's shared ministry and their myriad contributions to God’s Kingdom. Words heard during another beloved minister’s passing that also applies to Calvin, “Nothing gold can stay.”

Calvin was a fine man and minister. He and his family were inspirations in my growing up life. I have such fond memories of all the Beckendorfs - a wonderful, Christian, Methodist family. My prayers go out to the family and Hallelujahs to Calvin who is now with his Lord.

Marie, Barbara, and Richard. I had no idea that Calvin was going through this. He and your family meant so much to me! So blessed with the years that we worshiped together. He was the most humble Christian I ever knew. We won't be able to come to the visitation or the service but are upholding you in our prayers. Love, Carolyn and Norman
