My Dear Betty, Rose, Liz, Glenda and Tommy,
Thank you for sharing your wonderful Cooney with the rest of us. I am a better person for having known him and am proud he called me one of his own. He was as fine a man as any who have walked this earth and I loved him dearly.
My heart is with you and the rest of the family. I thank God we will all see him again. You are my family and I love each of you. Thelma

Sorry for your loss but the pipeliners reunion must be having a grand time - I can just imagine the stories that are being told. Cooney, save us a place, we're not that far behind you.

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Cooney, but for the past year, I've had the distinct pleasure of knowing his son, Tommy, and for a bit less time his daughter-in-law, Marilyn. David, Allison, Stephanie and Adam Sadler extend our deepest condolences to the Shiflett family.
David Sadler
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never Lark, or even Eagle flew -
And while with silent lifting mind, I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God."

Tommy Shiflett:
Speaking with your "crew" here in MN, it seems many of the folks knew your father. Reading about his life, I get the sense of where you sprang from and how you became the majestic person that you are.
You can be sure our thoughts have been with you and we are sorry for your loss.
Life goes on, good or bad. We need you here in MN, return safely.

Tommy,
During these days of great sorrow you will be transported back to your youth, feeling the tearful loss of your father as a young child would. You will be thinking, sharing and reviewing the events you shared with your father, the events that have formed you into the man you are today.
Although you have had something precious taken away, you will be given the gift of feeling deeply, great appreciation, for what you have received as a son, a truly priceless gift.
Know the dear Lord is holding your father, with all the tenderness, care and love that you wish you could.
My sincere sympathy goes out to you and your family.
